Cane Corso FAQs
-
Honestly, for most first time owners, the Cane Corso is not a good choice. While these gentle giants are incredibly loyal and loving, they are a guardian breed. They're hardwired to protect their people and property. They're incredibly powerful dogs. So if you don't know how to train a dog for a loose leash walk/heel, and basic manners obedience, a Cane Corso is not a good choice for you due to their size and strength.
-
Yes. Cane Corsos are incredibly intelligent, hardworking, and eager to please the people they love and respect. This means you don't have to be an expert in obedience training to teach them the basics of sit, stay, come, etc. However, socialization and manner training can be a bit trickier due to their protective instincts. The reason experienced leadership is so important with a Cane Corso comes back to their protection and guardian behavior. If you are a strong leader to your Cane Corso, you'll be rewarded with the most intelligent, regal, and loyal guardian you could ask for.

-
A good hour of exercise each day is great for a Cane Corso. After that, they'd much rather curl up next to you or relax on your front porch and watch what's happening in the world.
